Ugh, yeah, I don't even want to repeat some of the stuff. I think one of the main reasons I haven't come out with the gayness and gender problems to any family members besides Mom isn't because I'm ashamed or afraid, but because I KNOW the information is going to wind up being spread around, and I really don't feel like listening to what extended family has to say about it. Maybe they would be tolerant; my uncle Troy is an obnoxious piece of shit who has very few redeeming qualities--one of them being that he isn't related to us by blood--but he has a lesbian sister who he really loves. He even invited her and her girlfriend to one of our reunions, and I don't think anyone complained about it (at least not to them? I can't remember). But then, my step-grandma (JoAnne) apparently went on a big spiel this one time about how gays are going to hell, and at THIS reunion Cheryl was all "do you need us to pray for you" in response to Trey and Patrick joking about how they were gay for each other, so you know.
but I dunno, I still really love them despite all that (and it's really just the older folks saying stuff like this, like I mentioned). I'm just glad my immediate family is liberal, haha.
