Maaaaaagical

Hey, Internet! I've got a question.

Sooo, say you find this incredible artist. You love their art, you watch their gallery, you're happy. Right?
Okay, so, let me ask: is there anything that would turn you off of an artist you love, despite the fact that they still draw well? If you find out that the artist is a jerk, can't take critique, updates too much, draws almost nothing but art of a certain subject (models, romance, angst, violence, whatever)/fandom/etc, or even that they love a band (or whatever) you hate/hate a band you love, or whatever else--would you still be able to enjoy their artwork, or would their personality or habits color your views (pun intended lol)? Would this change depending on the type of artist they were, like if they drew or wrote or did music or acted etc?

GO

Not that I frequent DA anymore, but if somebody can't take critique that always annoys me, no matter who they are. Only one way to get better, you know? And I can't stand people who are huge douchebags no matter what they do.

Argh, people who can't take critique. I knew this one person who SPECIFICALLY ASKED for me to start critiquing her work, and she was all like YEAH I LOVE CRITIQUE THE HARSHER THE BETTER RIP MY ART TO SHREDS GO FOR IT

So I left her this gentle, light-hearted critique on one of her drawings, even did redlines because I wasn't sure if I was explaining things well, made sure to encourage her and compliment her and all that, and a few hours later she makes this passive-aggressive journal entry all UM JUST BECAUSE YOU'RE LEAVING CRITIQUE DOESN'T MEAN YOU HAVE TO ACT LIKE A DICK, and she uploaded something later all I'D WRITE A DESC BUT I HATE MY ART SO MUCH WHY DO I EVEN BOTHER only with a lot more swearing and unadulterated rage, and it was seriously just

what

And then there's the people who tell me to give them crit and reassure me over and over that they wont get all angry like that person did, and then break into a half hour angst fit at even the slightest, most feather-soft suggestion and I always wind up feeling terrible and taking everything back and udiafhgakdfjgh god it's like that rat in King's Quest that's all YES COME CLOSER THAT'S RIGHT and kills you if you're even a pixel out of place ;_;

so tl;dr i avoid giving out crit these days
