Nov. 2nd, 2009 12:53 amRECENT HAPPENINGS:
-dad had his 61st birthday. watched the rest of that dana carvey dvd to celebrate.
-dressed as zombie billy mays for halloween. everyone i yelled "HI BILLY MAYS HERE FROM BEYOND THE GRAVE" at got a pretty big laugh out of it. especially this one kid who was all YEAAAAUUUHHH BILLY MAYS ROOOOCCKKSSS HRRRRNNNGGG etc in response. he looked about nine and was dressed as a cheerleader.
also, this one lady came up to me and was all I HAVE SO MUCH CANDY HELP and gave me several huge fistfulls and now i have so much candy help
-step-grandma's fine, won't even need chemo or anything.
-saw "this is it." too bad michael never got to do his last tour, it looked pretty cool.
-
supercharitygo ends this month, so anyone wanting to donate/volunteer better get to it.
-i'll get to the sketch requests in a second
BUT FOR NOW
WOULD YOU EVER BECOME A PROSTITUTE?
what if it was legal?
what if it was completely safe (no risk of STDs, no risk of abuse, etc)?
what if society didn't frown upon it?
what if it were all/some of the above (wouldn't just because it was legal, but might if it were legal+safe or something)?
would you ever think of it as a respectable/serious career path for you to take?
and there's no reason for asking this, before anyone starts wondering what i'm planning. IT POPPED INTO MY HEAD AND I WAS CURIOUS
ETA: just to clarify, it'd be sort of like an average, 9-5 job. a secretary screens clients, everyone has their own office, you go to employee picnics or whatever, totally mundane. the only thing is that it's... well, prostitution.

Date: 2009-11-02 07:16 am (UTC)FOR ANY OF THESE
the frat boy in my soul wants to go HURR YEAH GETTING PAID TO GET LAID, but i still just can't see myself being shameless enough to actually do it. i can't even admit to having a crush (or do much of anything when it's not just a joke, so tsundere), how the hell am i supposed to be a prostitute. that, and i'd just feel kind of dirty and weird even if prostitution was thought of as a respected career path skfgjhs
eta: i wouldn't look down on people who DID do it, but it's hard to imagine me having that job hahaha

Date: 2009-11-02 07:26 pm (UTC)I've thought about the prostitution thing before! And I don't think it'd be that bad if it were regulated and safe and everything. It's a bit intimate to get with a paying customer, sure, but people make respectable livings as masseurs and gynecologists and other stuff that gets up close and personal. And a lot of kink is mostly psychological anyway. It's pretty much the fact that prostitution isn't legal (which brings crime and ick, just look at prohibition) plus our society blowing sex way out of proportion that makes it a big thang.
Me personally? Hmm, maybe. I'm egotistical enough to like the idea of someone paying for me, SUPPLY AND DEMAND, BABY. XD I'd consider dabbling in it for my frequent job-hopping, anyway, I really doubt it'd be any sort of career.

Date: 2009-11-02 08:01 pm (UTC)YEAH i probably should've mentioned, but i imagine it looking like a sort of office job, almost. everyone has their own office where they do their work (probably decorated differently than a normal office, but you get the idea), a secretary makes appointments after screening the clients to make sure they're clean and safe, and it's just an average 9 to 5 job. the only thing is that it's sex.
it's sort of hard to imagine though just because it's so difficult to disconnect yourself from how much society looks down on it, hahaha

Date: 2009-11-03 05:55 am (UTC)Yeah, there are a lot of factors to change. It's a pretty easy train of thought for me, but I'm made of pure ferocious ego so I don't think I count here. XD It'd be great if society in general could accept its own desires, instead of this "WHAT NO SEX IS DIRTY YOU DEVIANT" thing. Gonna need a few more generations of Internet!
