I made mochi the other day! It wasn't very complicated at all (A GRAND PLUS FOR COOKING IMPAIRED PEOPLE SUCH AS MYSELF), though it did take a long time for it to bake and cool and everything. It came out pretty nicely for my first batch, I think :D The only thing is is that the recipe made a much larger quantity of mochi than I thought it would, and it said to divide the batter into three 8 inch cake pans, but we only had one, so I was like EH I'M SURE IT'LL BE FINE and just dumped the whole thing into one pan, and it wound up not cooking all the way the first time so I had to scoop out the outsides onto a plate and bake it again, so the whole thing took like four hours. BUT OTHER THAN THAT
Mom and I also got some ice cream mochi at this neat Asian market we found, and it is the most delicious thing on Earth oh God I could eat it forever
So visiting with John was a lot of fun, even if it was short. We mostly sat around and played games and watched movies and such. Everyone played Brawl, and it was really funny watching my non-gaming family act so disturbed by everything that was happening (WHAT WHO IS THAT GUY WHAT THE HELL IS THAT WHY AM I GLOWING GOD WHAT IS GOING ON) :B I recorded quite a few hilarious fights, as well, including this one where Mom and Dad fought each other (as Link and Ganondorf, ironically) without having a lot of gaming skills or anything, so they were both just sort of flailing around. IT WAS GREAT. I wish I could show them to you guys, but I don't have a capture card or anything. I'll get one one of these days
We also got the new Mario Kart game for the Wii, which we played a lot (A LOT). It's pretty fun, though I wouldn't recommend getting the steering wheel controller, since it doesn't seem to handle very well (it was real sensitive and made it hard to keep the vehicles steady, and I kept running off of cliffs every five seconds when I used it, and I dunno). A GameCube controller or a Wiimote+nunchuck combo is where it's at.
We also played Wii Play, which was great fun. I played against John and I swear to God he was trying to make me laugh on purpose so I'd mess up adghadkfgja. THERE WERE TIMES WHERE I COULDN'T EVEN SEE THE SCREEN THROUGH MY TEARS OF LAUGHTER
Heh, it's weird, but it seems like every time we're driving John to the airport, he and I always wind up having this long discussion about video games. ( things nobody cares about )
AND SPEAKING OF THINGS AND STUFF, I AM 99% SURE THAT I AM GOING TO ANIME EXPO :D IF YOU'RE GOING THEN JUST LOOK FOR SOME FREAK IN AN OTACON COSTUME I GUESS. WATCH ME STAMMER AND SQUIRM AS I WRESTLE WITH THE CONCEPT OF SOCIAL INTERACTION
this entry has no point lol. SCREENSHOTS IN THE NEXT ENTRY... PERHAPS
