Epic Superstar Saga Adventure Part 9
Jun. 18th, 2007 05:02 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
I had some weird dream the other night that involved this guy who apparently wanted to go adventuring through some forest filled with traps, but then this other guy was like NO THERE'S TRAPS OMG so he went to go disarm them, and for some reason did so by running into them himself. And he had like all these bear traps and stuff all over him which didn't even phase him, but then he eventually gets poisoned and passes out. A little later he wakes up on the other guy's couch and the guy is like YOU RETARD DO YOU NOT KNOW HOW TO DISARM TRAPS MY GOD. And then that was kind of it. Maybe my sub-conscious is playing off of how I have this weird addiction to running into traps in video games (cough the undergroud in pokemon diamond cough), but I really have no idea. IT WAS A VERY MYSTERIOUS DREAM.
Haha, then last night I had a dream that involved Phoenix Wright: Trials and Tribulations coming out early. Gee I wonder what that dream means
anyway it's superstar saga tiem. Finally have time to do this. Stupid reality.
Previous episodes

Let's see what's so great about it, then! This is one of those things that I meant to do last episode but didn't have room.

WOW I ACTUALLY DIDN'T MAKE YOU GUYS SIT THROUGH A TUTORIAL THAT'S AMAZING. Basically all you do is collect beans from digging underground and stuff, then take them here to make coffee. Remember a few episodes back where I mentioned that collecting beans helped unlock an easter egg-type thing? This is it.

The stuff on the first menu just requires one type of bean, while the second one requires two types. I'll collect beans and try and do all of these for you guys, eventually.

But for now, Woohoo Blend!

UH OH. Power Failure plays here. Anyone recognize the theme in this song?

BOOGA BOOGA

I LIKE YOUR PANTS WHERE'D YOU GET THOSE

GASP
WHO COULD THAT MAN BE

PROFESSOR E. GADD! He's the guy who was in Luigi's Mansion! The song worked into Power Failure is his theme song, and whenever he talks you hear him make those "adgkadhfg" noises like in the game instead of just the standard "beepbeepbeep" noise! YEAH! I found this out completely by chance while I was playing once and freaked out

Ghost: noooooooooo

Professor E. Gadd plays here. This song is weirdly addictive.

YOU COULD SAY THAT

Heh, I dunno, just think it's kind of funny that not even the owner of the cafe knows what's going on with the menu. TOO BUSY CHASING GHOSTS I GUESS

WOO! You get new accessories whenever you do this, though you have to order a different drink every time for him to come out.

Went ahead and made another. I HAVE THE BEANS, WHY NOT

AND QUITE THE PAIR OF LEGS APPARENTLY, AND I MEAN THAT IN THE LEAST PERVERTED WAY POSSIBLE BECAUSE MAN THAT WOULD BE REALLY CREEPY

If you brought the items, then certainly!

WOOOO

You sell people drinks and don't build toilets what's the matter with you people

Another Luigi's Mansion reference!

eeewwwww

VRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

I didn't have any more beans, so I said 'no' here. SOMETHING ABOUT HIS REPLY SEEMS SARCASTIC

Oh awesome, I forgot those increased stats

New slot for accessories.

Both of these are pretty useful, especially the EXP one. It'd work for me if I wasn't a retard and dodged better, though. But just imagine the exp you could get if you didn't take damage in a boss fight or something. That'd be awesome.

This is actually from this episode instead of the last. WOO

Hahaha. I wonder if there's 2999 other Poltergust models we don't know about?

A ghost of syrupy sweetness

Wooooooooo!

Ehhhh, not quite as great as the Bonus Ring and Greed Wallet, though I can see it having some use to it (I'm always jumping too early). But then again, you can always just learn how to time your jumps, and if not then you can easily get mushrooms. Especially with the extra cash from the Greed Wallet and all. But I dunno, maybe I'll try it out. HMM

ANYWAY GOING TO GET THE BEANSTAR PIECE NOW

delicious levelling nom nom nom

Anuboo looks a lot more threatening than it really is. All it does is appear in front of a brother and slowly shoots a laser at him, easily letting him jump. There's like a thousand grammar errors in that last sentence. EH, WHO CARES

Anuboos also give great exp, especially with Bonus Ring.

I SPY WITH MY LITTLE EYE
SOMETHING...
SHINY

THE HATCHES ARE OPEN

Curse you.

Well to tell you the truth, Diane, I'm surprised

Seeing those made me all happy. I like cheesy Christmas lights.

I was confused by the "his bones got flabby" statement until I realized they were skeletons. THANK YOU, THANK YOU

HURRY GO TO THE HOLD

The captain apparently being a sunburnt bag of bones

I GET IT

!

But what could we do to help out the boat? Hmmmmmmmm

HMMMMMMMM

Haha, I like how he just automatically assumes we're here for work. I MEAN, WE ARE, BUT Y'KNOW

Beanstar Pieces Mini-Games plays here, I think. Whether or not that's the actual title, I'm not sure. I'm also not sure if I posted this in a previous episode. JUST TAKE IT, WHO CARES

I forgot how to do this and didn't feel like doing a tutorial, so I just practiced for a while.

ALRIGHT, OKAY, I'VE GOT THIS

The actual game. Basically what you do is have Mario and Luigi either pull or push a row of barrels, and you try and get one whole row of barrels of the same color. Each row you get earns you one point.

And I succeeded! I got that last barrel riiiiiight on the buzzer.

HOORAAAAYYYY

Even better than cash!

At the storage room guy

Hahaha A SKELETON OF HIS WORD, I SUPPOSE

how about in our hands omg lol

Yes

Yeeeeeeesssss

IT'S GOOD OL' OSTAF

HINT HINT

That doesn't sound very healthy

I WONDER WHAT HAPPENS IF I HAMMER THIS?

Aha!
haha wow the transition between this and the last screenshot isn't very good at all

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
no wait I mean OH NO

noooooooo aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

AND SO CASTLES MADE OF SAND
FALL IN THE SEA
EVENTUALLYYYYYYYYY

Great now we're in the ocean again >( I hate this place, and for some reason I got REALLY lost in it this time. afhgadfg

On the next screen...

Beanstar: lol

OH WHILE I'M IN THE AREA I decided to drop by here and test out that Oho Jee burning theory. It works! You can burn the red ones and electrocute the blue ones.

They're really easy, at least at this level. They can be kind of dangerous if you let them attack, though, mainly because their attack goes on for a fair amount of time.

Yay! I think!

Red oooneeeee

If you don't kill them immediately then they'll say something each turn, usually just about how they're afraid of (weak against) thunder/fire or how they want (strong against; heals them) thunder/fire (red ones being afraid of thunder and wanting fire, and vice versa).

Oh yeah, and they give terrible exp -- about 4 points without Bonus Ring, if I remember right. So why bother fighting them? You'll see!

HABEEB!

Heh, sometimes they'll sing and heal your HP. THANKS

Their attack, where they basically run around and ram into both of the brothers repeatedly, which can actually deal pretty okay damage each hit. Like I said, it can be bad if you don't manage to block it.

HERE, here is why you fight them. I came in late so this isn't any use to me, but it can be earlier in the game.
Also ewwww, molted Oho Jee skins

ANYWAY GETTING BACK TO WHAT WE'RE SUPPOSED TO BE DOING. The starfish are Starkiss, and the fish is Cheep Cheep.

Aaaaaallllmost at 100

AND FINALLY WE GET TO WHERE WE'RE SUPPOSED TO GO

HIS CONTACTS wait no

ACHFPLFH

Incredibling, you say?

Shining bean-thing, you say?

HERMIE, YOU SAY?

hahahhahaha

WHAT'S IT TO YOU, PAL

Haha, I like how everything in this game is color-coded specially for the Mario Bros. EVEN PEOPLE!

I wonder how they can tell through the gloves?

And I keep reading that as "OH JESUS WHAT'S THAT." what is wrong with me

WAAAAAH

AGH I'M SORRY I DIDN'T MEAN TO

Haha, awww. Poor Mario Bros. NO SORRY YOU DON'T GET HAND MASSAGES, INSTEAD YOU JUST GET TO DO MORE WORK

snort

This actually becomes a lot more useful than you might think.

She does this little twirl just before saying each of those.

OH I'LL BRING IT ALRIGHT

Mario: aghaghagahgaghghag

VROOOOOOOM

NYYYYYYYEEEEEEEAAAARRRROOOOMMMM

TAKING TICKLE TORTURE TO A WHOLE NEW LEVEL!!1

It's also good for when you're too lazy to cross long distances by yourself!

Hahaha his eyes

Whoopeeee

I KNEW THERE WAS A CATCH

adfhggfdhgf

ALRIGHT WE'RE GOING ALREADY

What a strange sign.
So, how do we move the statue without facing it?

You don't face it at all, of course!

OKAY, OKAY

OH YEAH?

Hastily, you say?

YOU SNOOZE YOU LOSE, SIGN

AND THEN THEY WOKE UP wait no

BAM HAHAHAHA I never get tired of that

Aaaalllllmost

OH WOW, OCEAN. JUST WHAT I WANTED.

WOW I DIDN'T INCREASE POWER THAT'S AMAZING also wow his power levels apparently breachednine thousand 100 at some point.

WOO GO LUIGI

Fun Fact: Both brothers were level 35 when I beat the game for the first time. So at this rate, I think I'm gonna be juuuust fine

ANYWAY

When I first played, for some reason I thought Hermie was a girl. I have no idea why that is.

no thank you kind sir

Ahahahahahaaaaa. I GUESS I CAN SEE THE RESEMBLANCE

Mario knows the drill

Fangirl attack!

pfffthahhahahaha

Hahahaha, he just gives her this stare

nod nod

Y'know, that saddest thing is that I think it'd be neat to know this stuff as well. COME ON LUIGI, CURIOUS MINDS WANT TO KNOW

And with that scathing remark, the Hermie III boss battle begins!

He clamps you with his claws, and that's pretty much all he does.

That, and this. I don't really notice the difference in speed, myself.

After jumping on his claws long enough they'll eventually get all banaged up and useless. I can't remember if he has another attack to make up for this or not. WHO CARES

Pretty good reward. Too bad I got clamped at one point, I could've gotten double exp.

I guess you could say that, yeah

I'm not sure what they mean, here... do they mean they were wrong to ignore Hermie and make him attack, or that they were wrong about them being the Mario Bros.? 'Cause the latter wouldn't really make sense, considering.

YAAAAAAAAYYY

There actually IS something you can go and get for him, if you want. We'll have to do that...
NEXT TIME!
Man, I just BARELY squeezed all those screencaps in, and there's still a lot more stuff on hold. Jesus.
Haha, then last night I had a dream that involved Phoenix Wright: Trials and Tribulations coming out early. Gee I wonder what that dream means
