i'm hooooome
i brought a camera and then completely forgot to ever take any pictures. whoops.
anyway, good times. just did what i usually do--hung around the cousins and talked, basically--and that's always fun. i can't think of a lot of things that are really noteworthy, uhhh...
-amelie and luke are really adorable! amelie's getting better at talking (sheeee's three), which is fun, and luke is a big ham and seems to really love sports stuff (he's one or two? pretty sure he's one). he and i played some ping pong and he would totally whip the ball across the room and OVER TABLES and stuff, it was awesome.
alex is also super cool, but he always has been. he's eleven, now. so i guess all these new kids are... second cousins? because they're my cousins' kids? family title stuff is confusing.
-the 4th got a little crazy. i mean, this is a HUGE FAMILY in general, but then charlie invited a ton of his gym buddies and joanne invited like THE WHOLE NEIGHBORHOOD so that was... noisy. at some point some drama went down about all the strangers playing beer pong in front of ashley (fourteen) and alex, and one of charlie's friends getting all pissed off about it for some reason despite kaci's politeness about it. he was all WELL I SEE WE'RE NOT WELCOME!!!!!! and they all left. it was probably 'roid rage from the looks of that guy HAHAHA seriously he was a freaking GORILLA
apparently he was also really into playing ping pong but was completely pathetic at it, hahahaha
-guhhh as much as i adore dad's side of the family, i hate listening to (most of) them talk about politics. joanne said that having sarah palin in the white house would be "a gift to the world," cheryl states that "everything obama does is stupid," troy said that some kind of french beer or whatever was "the only good thing the french have ever done" (p.s. this family has french heritage, and for my family it comes from both sides, durr hurr hurr), on and on and on that's reeeeally not the worst, and meanwhile i'm just silently raging like hell. they're not ALL like that--it's really just the older ones who are all hardcore conservatives--but god is it embarrassing to listen to.
-i had a stupid moment one morning where i was trying to open a new milk carton, and there was this plastic thing underneath the cap that you're supposed to pull off, but i couldn't get it off, so i pulled on it REALLY HARD and wound up getting completely splattered RIGHT IN THE FACE. thankfully near a sink and paper towels, but it was still hilarious.
-nothing caught on fire this year! i think. i think there was some smoke a couple of times that was easily stomped out, but joanne made sure they watered the lawn really well before shooting things off, so there was nothing major. for some reason i was really sensitive to the bright lights this year and had trouble looking directly at the fireworks, which was odd, because i don't remember having trouble looking at them before. i hope that's not... too bad of a sign or anything.
-if sarah has a jetpack then she is going to fly away
this is a very personal conversation
so aside from the drama and the rage, good times! i'm going to leave AGAIN on the 10th to go to california, and i'll be gone for like ten days, but after that i swear i'm going to stop ditching everyone

Date: 2009-07-06 07:11 pm (UTC)but I dunno, I still really love them despite all that (and it's really just the older folks saying stuff like this, like I mentioned). I'm just glad my immediate family is liberal, haha.
