wishwashing's birthday party tomorrow wooooo :V If you guys happen see this before we meet then uh do you want me to bring anything in particular? 'Cause I'm just gonna throw random crap in my bag otherwise, so
I've been playing a lot of Dark Cloud, lately. I actually played the sequel before I played the first one (I rented it when I was younger and wound up liking and buying it), so when I saw the original over in GameStop's bargain bin I thought I ought to check it out. It's pretty fun! I'm only on chapter 2 right now so I don't wanna say too much, but so far it seems... pretty much completely different from the sequel, aside from most of the gameplay. Maybe I'm just not remembering things correctly :B
One thing that's really bugging me about that game is that sometimes, while you're going through the dungeon, the game will randomly be like A MYSTERIOUS FORCE HAS CHOSEN [party member] TO GO THROUGH THIS LEVEL and you can't switch characters or anything. This wouldn't be so bad if the other characters didn't suck so much. I mean, Xiao's slingshot does, like, 5 damage at the most, so just killing ONE enemy will take about twenty hits (I'm not joking), while Toan (main character) can kill it in about two. And THAT wouldn't be so bad if it weren't for the fact that there's a limit on how much you can use a weapon until it breaks, so you have to keep using your Weapon Repair Powder or whatever it's called -- which you have to buy, by the way -- to restore its life. And when Xiao's weapon has, what... 40-50 points, and when every tiny little enemy takes about half of those points to kill... you do the math. Not to mention that her slingshot misses half of the time. Goro is strong, at least, but he's just really, really slow, which can hamper you quite a bit. I dunno, maybe my characters just suck. I mean, this guy can apparently kill the 2nd boss in one hit, and I heard somewhere that someone's Xiao was able to kill certain enemies in one hit. I dunno why I'd be so weak, though, since I'm fighting every enemy on every level and getting all the items and using the best weapons I can get and upgrading them and all :< I dunno.
ASIDE FROM THAT, though, I like it a lot. Building the towns is fun, and also makes me go all OCD for some reason. MUST MAKE EVERYTHING PERFECT MUST MAKE SURE EVERYONE IS HAPPY ASFDS and I like dueling a lot. I actually wish there was more dueling, or that they would at least last longer. Most of the time you just push like four buttons before it's like OKAY YOU WON YOU SAVED THE DAY YEAH WOO and it's like what.

Dark Cloud - Wise Owl Forest - One of my favorite themes so far :> It's just so pretty, and it really fits that area well. I actually dislike going into battle there, because the battle music will start up and interrupt this song. just listen for yourself okay
Dark Cloud - The Spirit King - Kind of a strange, pretty song. I always think of those little illustration dealies in the tutorials and stuff when I hear this :B
David Bowie - Let's Dance - Oh David Bowie. This is a nice pick-me-up.

Electric Light Orchestra - Love is Like Oxygen - I'm the only one in my (immediate) family who likes ELO. I have fond memories of making everyone listen to this song on the radio while we were playing cards and everyone just sort of sighing angrily 8D
Fantastic Plastic Machine - Bachelor - I could SWEAR I've heard this somewhere before, but I can't remember where. My mom's the same way (I got her all hooked on FPM, heh). Hmm. Anyway, this is quite a catchy song indeed!

I remember watching some "100 Most Awesomely Bad Songs" show or whatever and this was #1 on the list. Of course, all that list did was remind me of which songs I needed to go download, this being one of them. My taste in music is amazing.
Gary Jules - Mad World - I hear this is in Donnie Darko, but I haven't watched that movie yet. I hear it's good, though. ANYWAY I don't really remember how I got this (SONGS JUST KEEP APPEARING IN MY FOLDERS I SWEAR), but I like it muchly. I think just about everyone can relate to it :O

Ico - Castle in the Mist - This is quite lovely. I remember playing Ico as a kid and being really freaked out by it, thus never getting very far 8B I should beat it one of these days.
Lemon Demon - I've Got Some Falling to Do - This is really catchy and for some reason I like the lyrics a lot. There ya go!
On a side note, I always mispronounce Lemon Demon's name -- I'll either try and say it like "lee-mon dee-mon" or "leh-mon deh-mon." Something tells me that was intentional on their part.

Rip Slyme - Blossom, Blow, Blue Be-Bop, Elephant, Funktastic, Hot Chocolate, Island, Joint, One, Shall We, Today, Wonderful, Zatsunen Entertainment - Rip Slyme is a Japanese hip-hop group, and their music is ridiculously catchy. I use the word "catchy" too much. ANYWAY I recommend at least downloading Blow, Blossom, and Blue Be-Bop if nothing else.
Gackt - Vanilla - I am mildly ashamed of myself for owning a Gackt song. This is pretty swingin', though, you have to admit :B I was sorta surprised to the video for it, since it... wasn't really what I was expecting. Eh well. WHAT CAN YA DO
