HOW COULD I DISAGREEEEEE
Sep. 1st, 2007 05:04 pmSo hey I've been thinkin'
I'VE BEEN THINKIN'
I've been thinkin' I'm gonna start screencapping a new game. Just 'cause... I dunno. I need something to do.
Anyway TIME TO VOTE ON THINGS GAMES STUFF I AM STRANGELY ENERGETIC RIGHT NOW THIS MOOD JUST CAME OUT OF NOWHERE
Fire Emblem: Blazing Sword - Gameboy Advance
Pros:
-Fire Emblem is a fairly rare game, I think, which I really just say because it was real hard for me to find a ROM for it and I never see it in stores. I don't have any, like, statistical basis for it or anything. BUT I DUNNO IT MIGHT BE INTERESTING
-A lot of people know about Roy and Marth from Super Smash Bros Melee, but many, from my experience, have never played a Fire Emblem game. So it might be cool to see the sort of series they come from.
-Beautiful graphics.
-Pretty darn fast-paced, so it shouldn't take forever to get through. I could actually do several missions per episode.
-Very well-written, in my opinion -- good plotline, funny characters... it's just well done.
-There's so many different things to explore, just all sorts of different dialogue combinations and easter eggs and that sort of thing.
-Things get kind of dark later in the game, if memory serves. I CONSIDER THIS A PRO
Cons:
-Roy and Marth aren't actually in this particular Fire Emblem game, so if you were gonna vote just to see them, then... :B
-I can't find the freakin' soundtrack for this game anywhere, so unless I do, then I can't do music links. Which sucks, because the music is kinda cool.
-I don't know how interesting this game would be to watch and not play for yourself. A lot of what's fun about this game is being able to develop your own strategies, make your own mistakes, and discover things for yourself. Not to mention that the dialogue is pretty straight-forward, and most of the time doesn't really leave a lot of room for commentary. Here's the prologue, just to give you a taste of what it's like. I dunno.
-IT'S REALLY REALLY HARD SO I'LL PROBABLY SCREW UP A LOT WHICH MIGHT ACTUALLY BE A PRO FOR YOU GUYS SINCE YOU GET TO LAUGH BUT ON THE OTHER HAND I MIGHT ACCIDENTALLY KILL A CHARACTER SOMEBODY LIKES, SO UHHH
I mean, I'd be incredibly cautious and make tons of save states of course, but there's still no guarantees. 8B
Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past - SNES
Pros
-This game tends to be a real sentimental sort of thing with both me and the people I know :O
-Considered to be one of the classics.
-I can hook you up with music and videos.
-It's sort of a doofy, light-hearted kind of game with colorful graphics and weird dialogue. From what I remember, that is.
-Great graphics.
Cons
-Actually, there isn't really anything that comes to mind.
Legend of Mana - Playstation
Pros
-This is a pretty obscure game (which I say because you never see anything for it ever) so it might be a fun, new experience for you guys.
-The music is lovely. And I have it!
-The graphics are beautiful.
-Generally just a light-hearted, fun kind of game that'll leave you smiling.
Cons
-There's the whole issue I've talked about before with PS emulators and ROMs and stuff. I actually found a PS emulator that works alright and does take screenshots, from what I understand, but I just cannot find a Legend of Mana ROM anywhere. NEVERMIND I FOUND ONE OH MY GOD AKDJHGFAKDFG FEEL FREE TO VOTE ON THIS NOW
-I haven't played this game in years, but from what I remember it has kind of a wonky plotline and weird dialogue and stuff. 'Might be kind of hard to follow.
-Again, maybe I'm just remembering it wrong, but I don't remember there being any actual sense of direction or a real specific goal you have to complete. You just kinda go from place to place and help people, and then eventually you go to the final world and beat the boss and win. BUT I COULD BE MISTAKEN.
Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars - SNES
Pros
-Like all Mario games, this is bright and fun and quirky. Quite a pleasant little game.
-Superstar Saga references this a bit, so it might be cool to see the origins of such referencing :B That sentence was redundant.
-I have videos/music.
-The graphics are pretty darn good, especially for the SNES.
-If you didn't like Bowser or Peach before for whatever reason, this game will endear them to you :D
-Great storyline -- actually has some character development and stuff.
-This game, though often said to be a classic, tends to pass under the radar of a lot of people. This miiiight have something to do with how it came out around the time the N64 came out and after the PS came out, so it just got kind of overlooked amidst all the hype. ANYWAY WHAT I'M SAYING IS this could be a fun discovery for a lot of people :B Or something. God I'm bad at writing these.
Cons
-No Luigi :(
-Might be a little on the long side, which can be a pro OR a con, depending on your point of view. I'm just putting it here because lol
-This isn't really a con (actually, none of these are), but since we just did a Mario game I kind of wonder if people might wanna try something else this time, just to mix it up or something :O I'm cool with whatever, it's just if you guys want to.
Michael Jordan: Chaos in the Windy City - SNES
Pros:
-THIS GAME IS HILARIOUS
-MICHAEL JORDAN
-GRIPPING STORYLINE
-DEEP CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT
-WHY NOT
Cons:
-WHY AM I PUTTING THIS HERE
Final Fantasy II/IV [Advance?] - SNES/GBA
Alright, I'm sort of at a loss with this one. I'm sure all of you know that Final Fantasy II/IV was released on the SNES, right? Well, apparently there was a FFII/IV Advance released on the Gameboy Advance, which was pretty much just an updated version of the SNES game. The dialogue between the two games are nearly identical and everything is actually pretty much the same, but the difference is that Advance isn't immersed in barely-comprehensible Engrish, has more detailed graphics, and I think the music is a little different, too, but I don't really notice. So this should seem like a no-brainer, right? Well, the thing is, the SNES version is something VERY sentimental to me, and I'm sure it would also be a nostalgia trip for at least a couple people reading. I've been wanting to show you guys the original version for a really long time, but I was just sort of hesitant because I was afraid it would be boring or that goshdarned pesky Engrish would be frustrating. So Advance would fix the Engrish problem, but... it wouldn't be the original. I don't know if you guys actually care about playing the original or not, and playing Advance would probably be better just for the sake of doing these. I dunno.
Anyway, bottom line is, if you vote for this, please let me know whether you want the SNES or the GBA version! Either one really is fine with me 8D
Pros finally for the love of god:
-I am a huge FF-fag. Not gonna lie. So you can rest assured that I'm going to rattle off trivia and ramble about memories I have with this game and that sort of thing. IT COULD BE AMUSING
-It's just good to get at least a little FF experience under your belt, especially if you hang around a lot of gaming communities and stuff. They just get referenced and talked about a lot and stuff :O
-You don't need to play past FF games to understand later ones since each game takes place in its own little world with its own characters and plot, so playing the 2nd/4th game out of the whole series isn't a problem.
-FF games are just generally funny and quirky and fun, and this is no exception!
-I have music, and I don't know if there's a lot of videos on YouTube or not, but I could record them if anyone wants me to.
Cons:
-FF plotlines are just a LIIIIIIIIITTLE confusing and difficult to follow. I can try and offer explanations the best I can, but there's always the chance that I'm mistaken or there's something I've missed. BUT IF THAT'S OKAY/YOU AREN'T REAL SERIOUS ABOUT THE PLOTLINE THEN HEY HEY
-'Could get kind of long.
SO this should be a pretty good selection, right? If you think I'm wrong and this selection sucks, feel free to suggest your own game and I'll look into it 8D VOTE TODAY!
In other news, I've decided to start posting website updates on
antiquemanthong instead of here. It's just better organization-wise, privacy-wise, and plus I can just rattle off updates without feeling like I have to make some big entry to stealthily weave them into. Soooo uh if you guys care at all about my lame websites, you should probably head over there. |B
Wow, I'm almost sixteen. That's a strange thought.

Date: 2007-09-02 12:37 am (UTC)I like them all, but I'm voting for either Zelda, Legend of Mana, or Fire Emblem. I've actually played part of Fire Emblem, a long time back, and I used to love legend of Mana.
As for Zelda, I mean, come on. Zelda.
