I hurt :<

We got so much sleet it looks like we got several inches of snow, and then to top it off we got a little bit of freezing rain which just helped everything congeal into this giant solid ice mass. We've actually been stranded at home for several days, and we've been hearing news reports about people having to live in their cars and people DYING and all this crazy stuff. I honestly have never seen weather like this before :O At least not where I live.

So yesterday, my parents were trying to get the car out of the driveway (which is below street level) by placing squares of old carpet in front of the tires, driving the car up a few inches, stopping, then taking the carpet squares from behind the car and putting them in front of the tires again. This actually worked okay, until the tires skidded and made the carpet fly out from under them. WOOO

So I went outside and tried to help but it was no use blahblah so we decided to just start walking to the store since it was getting late and I decided to tag along so we could get more groceries. I got a flashlight, we managed to climb out of the driveway without slipping (although earlier I accidentally slid down the hill in our yard like ten times. AWHOOP), and as soon as we were walking down the street I let out an uplifting cry of "AND OUR ADVENTURE BEGINS!"

A few seconds later I slipped and fell like a tard. :B.

Just getting out of the neighborhood was like a life or death situation. None of the roads were sanded, so there really was no safe, stable place to walk. You just had to be careful and stay alert, because if you didn't then you would slip. And it doesn't help that our neighborhood is fairly hilly -- at one point we had to go down a hill and I couldn't even stand up, so I just crouched and slid down on my shoes (WEE). I managed to get by by walking in old footprints and tire tracks from yesterday and finding random dents in the ice, but I still slipped and still fell several times. And so did my parents, which was worrying :< nooo

Once we got on the streets it was a lot better; things were sanded, and the snow and ice on the side of the roads was pretty much like... stuff shovelled from the streets and not a SOLID MASS so it was much easier to walk on. Though I still managed to slip and fall. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, I'LL BE HERE ALL NIGHT. I also found pieces of a broken hubcap on the way over, which was comforting.

Anyway we got to the store yay. Even with three people we still couldn't get very much or get anything too heavy. Nevertheless, we got our stuff and started heading back home.

The trip home wound up being much easier with the groceries, since they helped us keep balance and lowered our center of gravity. We also took a different route home, since we could walk through sanded parking lots most of the way. So yeah, the trip home was pretty uneventful except that two different people pulled up in their cars and asked us if we wanted a lift. Noooo thank you kind sirs

All in all, the whole thing was basically four hours of falling and slipping and being tense and cold and trying not to get run over. I remember while we were still getting out of the neighborhood, we saw some guy in his truck nearly fall off the side of his driveway which went up a steep hill, and another guy who couldn't get up a hill and started sliding backwards and nearly ran into us. Walking on ICE is tiring in itself, but then the stress of being around CARS that are ON THE ICE just adds on to it all. By the time we got home, we were all pretty out of it.

And you know what else? When I opened my blinds this morning, I found that the roads had been sanded.

On the bright side, at least when I'm older I can legitimately say that back in my day I had to walk two miles on the ice uphill in search for food, and I didn't have none of your fancy newfangled cars with 4-wheel drive and cushy seats, no! Two miles! On the ice! Uphill! And we liked it that way!

I'M TIRED OF TYPING THIS NOW. THE END.

Now it is time for videos. I was going to work on CoS but then I realized that I hate you all. Actually, I'm just tired. And braindead. And really, really sore. I'll shoot for sometime tomorrow, though.
VIDEOS!
Blaire and I found a bunch of George Carlin stand-up which entertained us for a while, so I thought I'd share :D NSFW for language. - Ten Commandments, Words You Can't Say on Television, Ever Have to Sneeze While You Piss?, A Place For Your Stuff, Carlin On Campus, Necrophilia, Housing For the Homeless, Fear Of Germs, Advertising Lullaby, Losing Things, Airport Security, and The Safety Lecture Continues. Jesus CHRIST that's a lot of George Carlin.
iPhone - Cooool
World Freehand Circle-Drawing Champion - This man has drawn quite a few circles in his time.
The Real Ghostbusters Present: What - PRETTY MUCH
THIS IS MY STOOOOOOOOORE
Dead Rising ingame videos one and two - God, Dead Rising looks like so much fun. Every object in the game is renderable, and even if you DON'T have something you can still jumpkick or even SPIT at zombies, and that can stop them. Not to mention that you can kill zombies pretty easily (VIDEO TAPES ARE LETHAL), which is really nice -- a lot of horror games are picky over just how you go about killing monsters which can make them stressful to play, but this just looks like one big free-for-all :B Not to mention that the 360 must be pretty powerful to be able to support a game that has hundreds -- I think even thousands -- of zombies on-screen at once without lag, or even any problems at all. I still don't plan on getting a 360, but still. Neat stuff. God did I go on a rant or what.
Dead Rising intro - KILL TIME AT THE SHOPPING MALL INDEED. The thing that sucks about Dead Rising -- or actually 360 games in general -- is that they're appealing to the people with HDTV, but then just kind of, like, ignore everyone else. Just look at how small and blurry the text is. I even read somewhere that the game King Kong for the 360 has brightness issues and is actually hard to see on a regular TV. No, Microsoft. Just no.
Kent's A Weirdo - MORE DEAD RISING. That guy kinda looks like Larry Butz. Which reminds me, Justice For All is out! I totally need to go get it.
Chainsaw-juggling clowns - THIS GAME HAS EVERYTHING. I think the concept of being a clown is lost on this man.
Pyramid Head's havin' a good time - Don't stop me noooooow~
Destroy All Humans intro - This is the only DaH cutscene I could find :< From the first one, anyway. But yeah, that game is fun. And the guy who does Pox's voice does the voice for Zim from Invader Zim! Wooooo
Destroy All Humans 2 gameplay - I just like how when Crypto gives everyone "Free Love" then that cop gets hit by a car :B I still need to play DaH2.
RE4: Pueblo Knife Extravaganza - Heh, Pueblo. Good times. I just like that one zombie in the background going "HEEEEY. AGAAAAHH" repeatedly.
Leon VS two Mr. Salvadors - AHAHAHAHAAAAAA
Final Fantasy VIII opening vid - This never fails to give me chills. SO COOL. And it's a wonder how Seifer didn't slice Squall's head in half.
Animal Crossing commercial - DOES ANYONE ELSE REMEMBER THESE
Animal Crossing: The Movie - Heh, this looks so corny. IT HAS RESETTI, THOUGH :D
MGS2 glitches - Don't kill meAIEEE
Glitch City - THE FABLED GLITCH CITY. God, does that music bring back memories or what.
Pokemon Blue - hacked - That last part made me laugh so hard.
Pokemon Blue - Pokemon Center glitch - AAAAAAA

WELL THAT'S ENOUGH FUN FOR ONE NIGHT. WHY IS IT LIKE TWO DEGREES IN THIS ROOM

Hee, I've always wanted to try one of the Pokemon glitches (THERE'S SO MANY) but I'm afraid of messing up my game :< I should try it on a ROM and, like, record everything. IT'D BE LIKE SOME KIND OF WEIRD HOME MOVIE

OMG POKEMON GLITCHES

And good luck with that snow. xD We have a lot of ice on the ground, too, but definitely not inches quite yet.

XD Thankfully the people from across the street came over and helped my parents with the driveway (USING ICE PICKS) and gave us some de-freezing stuff. So we can actually drive around and stuff, now! We're apparently supposed to get more snow by the end of this week, but I think it'll be a bit warmer, too. So that's good.

I don't have the guts to play games like Dead Rising for very long. I always feel guilty when I accidentally kill my human non-Sparta allies on Halo. D<

Heh, I'm actually usually pretty cool with scary games. The only parts that get to me are parts like that scene in the STOOOOOOORE video with the old lady and the poodle :< I HAVE A SOFT SPOT FOR THE ELDERLY AND ANIMALS, WHAT CAN I SAY

How is Halo, anyway? People always say it's really good and I've never played it :O

Halo is one of those non-stop games. You actually have to listen to the cut-scenes to know what the heck your next mission goal is, or else you're just following your little radar. You're on a timer a lot of the time, so you just have to gogogogogo. Thankfully there's no secret weapons and power-ups, so you never really have a reason to stick around an area.
