Somewhat. I'm a really big fan of Stuart Immonen, the comic book artist, but when I got the chance to interview him I found him to be incredibly boring. I still love his art, but it's somewhat disappointing how dull he was. But the opposite can happen a lot more strongly with me. A comic book artist that I thought was alright, and I got to meet them and they're incredibly awesome and interesting people, I will be a lot more interested in their work.
Now as far as hating fandom and their attitudes blah blah blah, most of those childish things happen on DeviantART. DeviantART is a very unrealistic perspective of the artist world.
If an artist is being repetitive, that means the artist is limited in their subject matter and what inspires them. Then they're really not an open minded artist and I'd rather not know them. It's pretty easy detecting that right away.
I guess on a related subject that I've been talking with several people about, Tetsuya Nomura. Nobody take offense. I think Tetsuya Nomura is a crappy retarded unoriginal artist, but I still enjoy his concepts from FFX.
Man, I'm just babbling on. Yeah, I think it matters.
