ALSO WHERE DID HE EVEN GO, HE JUST DRESSED UP AS A LITTLE GIRL AND LEFT AND NEVER SHOWED UP FOR THE REST OF THE GAME, WHAT
I DON'T THINK HE EVEN APPEARED IN THE CREDITS, DID HE?? DKFJHGKS

i GUESS YEAH the ending was sad and touching and all, but i just... felt like the game was trying so hard to make me really emotionally involved in these new characters and assumed that i was just bawling over sophia's letter and anton's woes so on, but considering anton showed up at the very end of the game and didn't really do anything except have a really awesome swordfight, it kind of felt like the story was doing its thing and i was just a random tagalong. y'know? like it was something that was important to the characters and all, but i wasn't really any part of it. it made the ending seem very "uhhhhh okay then" to me. well, that and the vampire hallucinations and also voice acting skfjhg
i will admit that the part where it shows the town decaying and anton as an old man was really depressing, though. i also can't help but wonder what the whole rest of the game was like without the hallucinations. like a really long tanetane island thing, only less scary and more "hahaha what"

I GUESS THAT'S THIS SERIES FOR YOU THOUGH and i still really enjoyed the game and still really wish i was professor layton. i think it's pretty much impossible to not feel charmed by these games, honestly.

hahaha, is there ever going to be a town in this series where all the people are actually real
next game: entire town made up out of don paolo. calling it.

also god i want to beat the guy who thought up that stupid garlic puzzle

MAYBE LIKE they're actually all old, but the gas is making them think it's still 50 years earlier, so they still act like they're younger? t-though that wouldn't really make sense for the people who are already old HAHAHA

Augh that's confusing. Were Anton and his dad the only ones who stayed there? IF SO IT'S JUST...POINTLESS TO STAY.

unless there was like a small group who were all "We're staying! THIS IS OUR TOWN oh wow look at the colouuurs" and refused to leave?

I just presumed like, for some reason the drug-gas stopped working once they REALISED they were hallucinating? But that's even weirder, since Layton figured it out beforehand and must have been running around with a drugged-up-Luke for a while, then had a sword-fight with a 70 year old man.

MAYBE IT WAS JUST... THEY GOT FAR AWAY ENOUGH FROM THE DRUG GAS THAT IT STOPPED WORKING? they were kind of on the outskirts on that last cutscene weren't they, hahaha

man it'd be cool to go through that town with a gas mask and see all these people talking to themselves and pretending to be certain people with certain jobs and everything
like it's still a somewhat functioning society, but they just think it's a lot more grand than it really is

I just literally finished it an couple of hours ago and I'm forgetting woo. I thought since everybody was getting sick some people were moving out? idk I wasn't...fully paying attention because I was too busy reeling at the sheer insanity of it all.

hahaha, i was the same way, but i just looked up the old diary pages again (though i never got the last one), and i think you're right-- it says that people were getting sick and thought the town was cursed and they made a village nearby or something, but anton didn't want to leave and the duke COULDN'T since he had to watch over the people who stayed. then the duke died and anton became the duke, so he couldn't leave even if he wanted to. then the whole SHE ABANDONED ME thing started, etc
so i guess the people who stayed were just... skeptical about there being any kind of "curse"?

i would be all over that! so much cooler than weekly puzzles.
