I LIKED IT
i'm really thrilled that disney is doing 2D movies again.
i thought the opening was PERFECT, but once it got to the frog part of the story, it was just... really rushed. actually, it was weird in that it felt rushed and overly drawn-out at the same time, idk. it really felt like the bayou thing went on FOREVER and it would've been better if they'd gotten to the city sooner and extended that scene a little more. actually, honestly, i would've liked it loads more if it was about tiana working hard to get her restaurant rather than have all the magic and frogs and shit BUT i still liked it.
louis could've been cut out completely, what did he even do
i didn't think i'd like ray in the beginning, but he grew on me. the thing about him and evangeline was insanely depressing. i mean, was evangeline supposed to be a dead firefly (the star appearing next to it when ray died kind of implied it)? or was he really just delusional and thought that a star was his soul mate or something? because i got the impression that it was the latter, and when he's dying and staring up at the star with this glazed expression all OH EVANGELINE I'M COMING FOR YOU then it was like FUCK
THAT'S REALLY UPSETTING
probably need to read the poem to fully get it or something
speaking of which, i was pretty surprised when he died. i was expecting someone to come save him, but then there's just a crunch
i'm normally not a fan of romantic sub-plots, but i really enjoyed this one, which is why i was so disappointed that it was so rushed. one day and he proposes?? was also kind of disappointed that they spent most of the movie as frogs hahaha made it a little cringey and plus i just generally dislike the talking animal thing BUT THAT'S JUST ME
THE VILLAIN WAS COOL his death was pretty lame but his song had cool animation and i liked how he looked and moved
speaking of song art, tiana's song about getting her restaurant was one of my favorite parts. awesome stylized art.

it's cool that even after tiana gets funding from charlotte and all (who was a really awesome character and i loved watching her move), she and naveen still had to work to get the restaurant the way tiana wanted it. there wasn't any MAGIC AND MARRIAGE SOLVES IT end or anything. that was refreshing.
