Man, you know what I found? Well, those of you who read my lame comic journal already saw it, but for the rest of you, 3-D Dinosaur Adventure gave me a phobia of dinosaurs that has stuck with me to this day. Any time I'm, say, playing a video game and a dinosaur or a dinosaur-like monster pops up, I get super jittery and can barely even control the characters because I'm SO AFRAID OMG and it's actually caused me to get REALLY stuck in certain games, just because I'm too scared to get past it and am so violently opposed to it that I don't even want to TRY to get past it. It's actually kind of hilarious.

Anyway, because I'm a masochist, I decided to look up 3-D Dinosaur Adventure on YouTube and see what came up, and lo and behold, I found the exact intro that I was talking about (though whoever posted it added their own music, which is kind of a bummer). I-it's even creepier than I remember D: Same with this. I'm sure you guys are looking at those and loling at how I could ever be afraid of them, but imagine being, like, three, and watching these completely unprepared for anything remotely scary and IN 3-D. I think I actually burst into tears when I first watched that intro.

ANYWAY, what's sorta funny is that there was a thread goin' on a few days ago about "repressed video game memories" or something, and I decided to bring up 3-D Dinosaur Adventure. And y'know what? I actually wound up getting tons of replies from people saying the exact same thing--that the intro was surprisingly freaky, the maze creeped them out, that the whole game had this eerie atmosphere, etc--and when I posted the intro, people agreed that it still scared the crap out of them. I-I'M NOT ALONE ;_; All this time and I thought no one else but me and maybe two other people even PLAYED that game, man. And the real kicker is that now I actually really want to play it again just to creep myself out. I'm never going to learn, am I

... so I guess I just wanted to share that! WHAT ARE YOUR VIDEO GAME FEARS, F-LIST?

And, um, I always feel kind of attention whore-ish doing these, but I'm kind of curious with this one. :> If you secretly think I'm obnoxious and weird then now is the time to let me know!

THAT MAZE WAS CREEPY IF I RECALL i can totally see how that intro could screw a little kid up

I WAS TERRIFIED OF PHANTASMAGORIA FOR THE LONGEST TIME until i played and beat it again when i was older :B same with It.
I also recall being somewhat creeped out by an old FMV game called Under a Killing Moon, if I remember right, but god that's so old. I barely remember anything about it.
OH YEAH AND THE 7TH GUEST although playing through that again recently killed that dead almost immediately, since the acting in that is atrociously hilarious beyond belief.

OKAY ANYWAY
my irrational fear is pyramid head. I get tense every time I see him outside the game, and inside the game I freak out. I don't know how anyone can find him sexy or anything D:

Pyramid Head terrifies me, too, but at the same time I really love him for some reason :B I think a lot of it is just the Internet kinda poking fun at him and helping soften the blow. Which still doesn't change the fact that I shit bricks whenever I see him BUT I'M A HUGE WIMP SO I TAKE WHATEVER CONSOLATION I CAN GET

Um. Sadly. I don't have any repressed video game fears. D: I am too normal, I suppose.

I loved the music in that vid. :D But the only creepy part about it for me was when the eyes appeared and maybe the camera pan down to its gaping mouth. (But, then again, I love dinosaurs so much so I can't really be scared of them.)

Luckily your phobia can only come up in certain situations, as the subject of your phobia is mightily extinct! :D

:O NOT EVEN REDEADS
That's actually probably a good thing, though, haha. YOU'RE A BRAVER PERSON THAN I

THAT'S THE CREEPIEST PART IF YOU ASK ME WHAT KIND OF A CRUEL PERSON PUT THAT IN A CHILDREN'S GAME MY GOD

That's true! Unless they find a way to clone 'em, anyway. They should use them in wars

DUDE IF I WERE A KID AND PLAYED THAT I WOULD'VE TOTALLY BEEN FREAKED OUT TOO DON'T YOU WORRY MANG

Asides from HORROR GAMES IN GENERAL, uh, do educational games really count :B ERR YEAH. One time I was going through this happy happy encyclopedia of animals and it had realistic art of stuff, and it was night time and I happened across a BAT. And it had a voice-over thing reading the text and it pretty much described bats as biting their victims and drawing out their blood AT NIGHT.

I got so freaked out because my imagination went into overdrive that I had to shut my computer off D: And told my nan.

My nan made fun of me for being scared of a video game that 'can't come after me' 8[

IT WAS SO FREAKY MAN AND I THINK IT ACTUALLY CAME WITH OUR COMPUTER TOO SO IT'S LIKE "CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR NEW COMPUTER, HERE'S A FREAKING DINOSAUR"

I THINK NEARLY ALL LITTLE KIDS WERE FREAKED OUT WHEN THEY FIRST HEARD ABOUT BATS SO YOU'RE NOT ALONE ON THAT ONE, MAN

Video game fears? No contest, the drowning music (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cMpv39J5V0U) from Sonic the Hedgehog.

Honorable mention to the Dead Hand (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w-mxEwgTytA) from Ocarina of Time. Not to mention the brain-scarring ReDead.

ASDFJKFGH YES TO ALL OF THOSE

I seriously think they should've made Ocarina of Time rated 'T', because pretty much everyone ever played that game when they were kids and it scarred them all for life. I had so many nightmares about ReDeads D:

I ... think I might remember 3-D Dinosaur Adventure. The maze was timed and some carnivorous dinosaur kept verbosely threatening to eat you, right?

My fear is drowning in video games. I guess because I grew up on implied video game death like falling down a bottomless pit or whatever, and deaths were usually a silly-looking "u died LOL" sort of animation. And then I played Mario 64 and held Mario underwater just to see what happened. He graphically struggled, and then went limp, and the screen faded to black as Bowser laughed. I was just slightly stunned at the time, but platform game swimming levels with air meters were a pretty big DO NOT WANT after that. I dunno, drowning's more personal than accidently making the character leap off a cliff.

I'm also a big sissy about personally playing medical sim games, I'm pretty sure it's a similar character's-life-very-literally-in-my-hands thing. So I watch Trauma Center videos on Youtube, like watching the news for the car wrecks. (Well, okay, Vaughn's hot, too.)

From: [identity profile] doxinator.livejournal.com
It's hard to remember :O It was timed, I know that much. Like, you had to run through and rescue all the dinosaurs before the meteor hit, and I think raptors would attack you, maybe? And if you ran out of time then the screen would turn red, and I THINK you'd see like this barren wasteland afterwards. I think. I BARELY REMEMBER ANY OF THIS

OH MAN ME TOO EXACTLY THAT'S ANOTHER BIG GAMING FEAR OF MINE AND MARIO 64 IS WHAT DID IT
There was a LOT in Mario 64 that terrified me, actually D: Like that freaking eel and all the underwater levels and the stairs and the piano and the merry-go-round and... other things that I can't remember right now. Dang, it seems like there were a lot of games back in the day that were marketed as friendly children's games and wound up having so much scary stuff in them wejrweh

Haha, I have kind of a love-hate relationship with fictional medical stuff :B Like, medical dramas on TV can squick me out like nothing else (though I still watch House. what), but I can play Trauma Center no problem. Then again, most of Trauma Center is just fighting aliens with surgical tools, whereas with, say, House, it's a lot more "graphic" and realistic (as realistic as that show gets, anyway). THE MORE REALISTIC IT IS THE MORE GROSSED OUT I AM BY IT, I GUESS

I think I mentioned this before, but giant spiders of ANY SORT freak me out something hardcore. Especially like in Resident Evil when they're all hairy and crawly and they flip on their backs and goosh out liquid and aaaagh

I have a vauge memory of some water stage - in an N64 game, I think? - which was reaaally deep and dark at the bottom, and I was utterly terrified of that. So much so my brain embellished it and made it a running nightmare for a few years. D:

MAN ME TOO though not as much as it seems they should, considering I'm pretty afraid of them in real life :O But yeah, that gave me a REAL hard time in Ocarina of Time, when you have to fight Gohma; I was only seven and much more afraid of spiders and such than I am now, and when Gohma popped out I think I actually turned off the N64 and ran off and cried somewhere. :B It took a lot for me to muster up the courage to finally beat her, and I remember feeling so relieved that it was finally over, only to have the game start throwing all sorts of other scary crap at me immediately afterwards. THAT GAME WAS TOO MUCH FOR ME BACK THEN, MAN

I know, I hate underwater levels so much. FREAKING SUPER MARIO 64 ADKGHAG

My videogame fear is first-person views! I...I know I view things first-person in real life, but for some reason it only scares me in videogames. I guess I'm too used to seeing all around in games.
It's kind of limiting, because I know I'd enjoy some games if I weren't freaking out trying to look everywhere.

You know, first-person doesn't bother me too much, but I've actually heard of a LOT of people being freaked out by it :O I think it's just that you can't really see the whole area, like you mentioned. YOU'RE NOT ALONE, MAN
