I have so many art projects I need to work on and I'm so lazy. :| I'll get into it, all "TODAY'S THE DAY, I'M GONNA DRAW TONS OF PICTURES AND MAKE AN AWESOME ART POST YEAH" and I'll open Photoshop, and then I'm like "Oh I should check my f-list again" and one thing leads to another until I waste an entire day doing pointless crap. John's flying over for Thanksgiving, yaaaayyy :D I should see if I can finish Bioshock before then, I know he'll want to talk about it.

UHH I'M NOT REALLY SURE HOW TO END THIS so here's a freaky question inspired by too many horror games this would've been better for Halloween and not the holidays, huh:
So say there's an outbreak of monsters or mutants of some sort, right, and one way or another, they manage to corner you in a room. There's no opening for you to escape. There's no one around to help you. You don't have any weapons. You're going to die.

Which is worse?
a.) The room is pitch black, so you can't see anything.
b.) The room is brightly lit, so you can see everything.

N-not even I can decide on this, so this should be interesting

Shipping charges totally aren't a big deal :B I mailed a card to the Philippines last year and it was... some number under a dollar that I can't remember right now akdjfgh but yeah, no, it'd be fine! dark would be scarier.
Because at least you know when it's coming kind of if it's well lit around? And you can try to defend yourself with, like, punches.
But in the dark, you have one less sense to work with, and having sounds come from all around you and to brush up against things before they attack would be TRAUMATIZING.

Yeah, I think I'd ultimately say that dark is worse just because you'd have no idea where they were and what was happening and what was GOING to happen, though at the same time, the thought of watching myself get torn to shreds by snarling monsters is terrifying. both options are so horrible aaaaaaaaaaa

They sound equally bad at first, but then it hit me. If it were pitch black and my hand found a light switch, I'd turn the lights on.

Plus, the whole "IT'S TOUCHING ME IT'S TOUCHING ME IT'S TOUCHING ME D8" thing is way worse when you can't see it/aren't expecting it, IMO.

Huh, that's a good point! I'd do the same thing, no question :O

I think I'm mainly just thinking, like... out of all the horror movie deaths/torture scenes/etc I've seen, the ones that stand out the most in my mind are the ones where you can see every horrible thing that happens to the person, you know? When you can't really see anything and all you hear is growling and screaming then it's kind of creepy in that anything could be happening, but the scenes that keep me up at night are the ones where you WATCH the person get mutilated, and the thought of seeing that happen to me sends shivers down my spine. BUT yeah, I think if I had to choose, I'd want the lights on.

It's sorta funny that way :O If it's someone else then I wouldn't want to look, but if it were me, I'd rather be able to see what's happening. Man, I should've added a bonus question like "WOULD YOUR ANSWER STAY THE SAME IF IT WAS HAPPENING TO SOMEONE ELSE (YOU STILL CAN'T DO ANYTHING BTW)," but now it's too late. DANGIT

For me it's only worse to see it if it's specific things, you know? Things that are especially squicky. I guess I'm kind of ehhhh about just plain gore, though.

I don't know, though, if it were actually happening to someone else, and it wasn't just a movie... I'm not sure I would want to be able to see it. D:

For me it'd be worse for the room to be dark. If there's a lot of light, I can at least see what's coming at me and maybe I can kill one of them with my bare hands before the rest overwhelm me. But if the room is dark one of them will probably sneak up behind me and bite my head off and deny me the chance of an honorable death. The Vikings had it right... if you're gonna die, go out fighting yo.
