~*~i'm back~*~
actually i got back yesterday afternoon, but ehhh effort

ANYWAY, I HAD FUN. i went to branson, i don't think i mentioned that. i went there as a little kid and i remember loving it, but don't actually remember anything ABOUT it (aside from the cousins and i hanging out in the condo, and also riding go karts/bumper boats), so it essentially felt like a new place, haha. it's kinda ridiculously corny and hokey and everything--pretty much the sort of place for little kids and old people--but whatever, i had fun. i'm too lazy to do a big pic post right now, though.

... so here's a meme

the WHY AM I MOE? meme

HONESTY MEME

Please do it, I really like hearing what people think! Don't worry about being harsh or whatever, I can take it

I finally got a state ID a while ago. I am making the exact same face I made when I got a passport, which I got when I was... eight or nine or something. Just this little smirk, hahaha.

I got Sims 3 the day it came out, had to wait due to needing more RAM, and now I have to wait even more due to crashing problems. I'll play for a while and it'll either crash to desktop or restart the computer. Loads of other people are having the same problem, regardless of what kind of comps they have. I get the impression that this means it's a bug, though some people have been able to work around it. I'm a little afraid to test out a bunch of different "fixes," though, because I'm scared it's screwing up my computer akdfhgk. I really wish EA would give us some feedback on this; I haven't officially heard anything about them working on a patch for it, everyone's just kind of assuming that they are

so fffffffffffffffffffffffff

i fell behind on artslam and don't really feel like catching up. I've also been repainting the ceiling in my room, gonna make myself finish that today or tomorrow because I'm tired of having this room all messed up. It looks so much better than it did before, though. I also got a mass cane plant (corn plant?) named Paula and I'm gonna put her it in my room once I'm done painting, since it probably wouldn't appreciate the fumes. I HOPE PAULA GROWS UP WELL AND THAT THIS ROOM GETS ENOUGH SUNLIGHT FOR IT ;_; I'VE BEEN LOOKING UP MASS CANE CARE SO I HOPE I'M OKAY
PAULA ALL I WANT IS YOUR HAPPINESS!!!!

--wait, the care tag thing says that mass canes need a lot of sun but now these sites are saying they need little I SET PAULA ON THE SUNNIEST PART OF THE DECK WHAT AM I DOING

EDIT: I TOOK IT OUT OF THE SUNLIGHT BUT IT LOOKS KIND OF WILTY PAULA I'M SO SORRY
I LEFT IT OUT THERE FOR LIKE TWO DAYS
PLEASE DON'T DIE, PAULA
PAULAAAAAAAAA

EDIT 2: Haha, these sites keep saying different things. Also, apparently these things can get kind of... huge. whoops. well i'll probably kill it in like two weeks due to lousy gardening skills anyway

Hahaha I keep throwing stuff on Twitter and then forget to put it on here.

-Went to a book sale at the library, which had RIDICULOUSLY LOW prices. Hardcover books for $2, some books were 50¢, things like that. It was actually sort of crazy dkfgjhs it had like, nothing but old people attending it, and you had to take a number to get in since they could only let so many people in at a time, and as soon as the doors opened everyone just FLOODED IN and started piling books into boxes as fast as they could. Apparently last year this group of people came in and threw a tarp over a whole section and claimed it, so this year they had a police officer guarding the whole thing. WTF.

-Picked up Half Life, pretty excited about that. I'm trying to catch up on all the ~classics~ I missed out on as a kid, haha. Also got Killer7 which I've been playing a little. I'm still only at the very beginning, but it's already so bizarre, what the hell. THE FACT THAT SUDA51 MADE THIS IS NOT SURPRISING IN THE LEAST

-HAHA OH YEAH I saw license plate at Target that said "Bradley." I-I FINALLY FOUND HIM~~~

-Drove outta town yesterday to go visit grandpa (and some other old relatives, but mostly Papa), had an okay time. It was mostly just the old folks talking to each other while I kind of... stayed silent, haha, I had nothing to say and I tend to get kind of quiet around adults in general for some reason-- but I liked seeing everyone and everything. Everyone mostly hung out in the breakfast area at the hotel. At some point--freakin' broad daylight, 2 or 3 PM--the most obvious prostitute I've ever seen walked in the lobby and asked to call a certain room. She had a ridiculously short dress that showed part of her ass, these long black boots that had giant heels, one of those leather biker hat things, might have had leather gloves but I can't remember-- this real dominatrix look, just needed a whip or some spikes or something. What the hell.
So that's kind of a weird thing to see while visiting elderly family members.

Uhh I could have sworn I had something else I DUNNO WHAT ELSE TO SAY
Have this:
backupdump002: (no bro no)
Hugeass pchat dump that took an obscene amount of time to put together. Tiger better appreciate the things I do to keep this marriage alive ;_____; (it's all thumbnailed btw) )

Wow, the charity drive starts in about a week. Where did the time go? Nervous...

Sorry I've been kind of scarce. There's this big exam coming up and I suck at time management, so I've just been cramming as much as I can. I can't wait to finally have it done, simply because my conscience doesn't want to let me do anything but schoolwork right now. Every time I try to do something else I'm like OKAY I KNOW I JUST STUDIED FOR LIKE FOUR HOURS BUT I NEED TO DO MORE THERE'S NO TIME LEFT TO WASTE I NEED TO STOP BEING SO LAZY, and then I feel guilty for trying to relax, but I still procrastinate (since apparently it's okay as long as I'm not drawing or playing games or doing something else I enjoy, wtf self), until eventually nothing gets done. No art, no nothin'. It'd be more productive to just punch conscience in the face and do "unproductive" things, goddammit.

I dunno. I'm a big nerd so I actually love studying, hahaha, it's just the time limit that sdfglhdfjg. So that's kind of all that's been happening over here lately. That and I keep having nightmares every time I go to sleep ffffff

There was this big blackout that went on for about 8-9 miles today, lasted for an hour and a half. I liked it, but then I'm a weirdo who kind of likes power outages for some reason (more specifically, going out in public during them. DAD AND I WENT TO THE GROCERY STORE IT WAS SO DARK AND AWESOME). I guess that was our contribution to Earth Day, ahahaha

The weather's getting warmer, finally! I can't wait to go swimming. There's too many freakin' ants, though. Too bad it's so late or I'd haul the vacuum up here and take care of business. i'll get u next time

I-I'll get around to finishing that sketch meme eventually
backupdump002: (jammin')
Went to the funeral today. It turns out it wasn't a drive-by shooting; her friends were at a house and shot her accidentally. They just made up the drive-by shooting thing to cover their asses. I don't want to try getting into the whole thing, since, well, nobody really knows the full story since nobody's telling the damn truth--there's different stories coming from all over the place, the cops say they don't add up--but I think it basically happened because she started falling into the wrong crowd. Apparently the guy was planning on shooting somebody else that night and pointed the gun at her as a joke since he thought the safety was on. Apparently there were also adults at the house, and nobody called 911.

So there's that.

But anyway, it was a very nice funeral. It was a great day for it, all sunny and warm (kind of a stroke of luck, since the weather here has been all over the place). It was at a pretty Catholic church, had tons of teenagers there since she hadn't even graduated high school yet. Hahaha, I always feel so awkward whenever I'm in any kind of religious situation, being agnostic and everything. I just feel like I'm doing everything wrong and everyone can tell, y'know? I just try to follow everyone's lead and don't say anything, haha.

This is the fourth funeral I've been to. That seems like a lot. I dunno, maybe it's because I've never been extremely close to the people I've gone to funerals for (first three were grandparents who died when I was too young to remember a lot about them), but I've never found funerals to really be... well... sad. I mean, funeral scenes in fiction are always as bleak as they can possibly be, all grey and storming and all the people there are just crying their hearts out, but I've always gotten a sort of bittersweet sense of closure out of them. It's sad that the person is gone, but at the same time, you're giving them an elaborate farewell, you're surrounded by friends and family, everyone's paying their respects and supporting each other-- I don't know. It always seems like the days before are what's hardest to swallow, but the funeral itself provides a nice point for people to gather around, take a look at each other and say, once and for all, "Well, this is it."

I can't imagine what Jim and Jeanie are going through. They did seem well today, though, which I was very happy to see; they're some of the sweetest people I've ever met. I'm sure they'll be okay.

Man, now it hurts to walk since my feet are all covered in blisters. Of course, I'm weird, so I just turned right around and walked all over the neighborhood as soon as I got home dkfgjhkds

I CAN'T STOP LISTENING TO THIS SONG I don't even remember where I got it wtf
backupdump002: (konakawa sigh)
So the daughter of one of Dad's co-workers was murdered today.

As far as anyone knows, there was no reason for it; could've happened to anyone. She was just walking down the street when someone drove past and shot her in the chest. We got the call during dinner.

I have no idea if I've even met her (maybe as a kid or something, we're about the same age), and her father is more Dad's friend than anyone else's, so I... don't know. I'm shaking a little, but I still feel oddly detached from the whole thing. Empty. I don't know how to describe it or what to say.

Dad's thinking about visiting the family. I'm kind of thinking about going as well, but I have no idea what I'd even do.

Edit: I'm okay for the record skjfghd don't worry or feel like you have to cheer me up or anything. It just came as a shock.

God it is still coming down so ridiculously hard WE'LL PROBABLY GET A FEW MORE INCHES SKDFJGHS
Of course, knowing the weather in this place, it'll probably be 80 or something tomorrow

I BOUGHT WATCHMEN LAST NIGHT. I was actually hesitant to go out because it was RAINING LIKE CRAZY but now I'm really glad I did dkshdf

So anyway, my mom's friend hooked up with some handsome guy and ran off to Mexico where she got her purse stolen. Her purse had EVERYTHING in it--all her credit cards, ID, passport, etc--so my mom had to go running all over town talking to people and faxing things just to help her get back in the 'States. Mom and I even went over to her house to look for her old passport (she asked us and she'd given Mom the key before she left, we didn't just break in dkjgh), which was as boring as it sounds and then some. I thought we'd find it in, I dunno... thirty minutes? We were there THREE HOURS. We checked and double-checked every inch of her house, including the garage, including the refrigerator, and we literally could not find it anywhere. We eventually got frustrated and left, and I felt so cranky about it for the rest of the night.

Well, Mom went back over the next day, and you know what? She found it in ten minutes. It was in the top drawer in the filing cabinet. That was the first place I looked. We checked that freaking filing cabinet about four times. How the crap did we keep missing it. What the hell.
What the hell.
But at least that's over with! I'm glad she wont have to sneak across the border on the back of a truck or anything

I'm almost done with holiday sketches! I've got six left, though I'm working on making that five. I haven't forgotten about getting a P.O. box, but right now we're iced in, so we can't go anywhere. We're supposed to get more, too. I hope this doesn't turn out like last year.

We don't have the cash to fly John over for Christmas and neither does John. I think we're going to pay for his ticket... anyway? Somehow? ffff, I don't know. I wish he handled his money better and didn't spend it all going out to eat every night and everything :|

Holiday gifts. Remember, December 1st! You better hurry and get your request in if you haven't, since there's not much time left.

Sooo, Thanksgiving was nice. About thirty people and three kids and five (six?) dogs all crammed into my grandparents' B&B. It was pretty much constantly noisy and crowded which could get a bit much--you couldn't even escape to your bedroom to go read since it was still pretty loud, even at night--and large crowds tend me to make me realize just how awkward and faily I truly am, BUT I love my extended family, so it's okay. I have the best cousins ever and my cousins have the best spouses ever and hanging out with all of them and my siblings at the same time is like being in the center of one big mass of concentrated awesome. I wish we could've stayed longer.

Kaci's... niece? I think she's her niece. Anyway, Emily was there, and she is six years old and a ball of energy. She's a sweetheart, though. Very outgoing, not shy around people at all; it felt like she'd been in the family all this time. She seemed very taken to me, too, and even made me a flower out of tiny drinking straws and notebook paper, but then the straws fell out and it became a mask instead.

:> Kids.

I know it's cliche to say you're thankful for everything, but it's the truth. I'm thankful for my family, my friends, my health, having sufficient food/shelter, everything. I'm happy I'm the person I am, and I'm happy you guys are you. ALL of you have made an impact on me, whether you've listened to me and encouraged me and helped me to slowly overcome my deep-seated confidence issues, or just made me smile. You're all very close to my heart, and I hope I've been a good friend. I love you guys, man.

in other news my computer is a whore

You know what sucks?

It sucks when your parents ask you if you want to go for a walk, and you reply with "Maybe in a second" since you just woke up, but then they go ahead and leave without you so you scramble all over the place, put on pants, start to go out the front door and decide to go out the back, double back for the bathroom, then finally burst outside and run three blocks in 80-90° weather with the sun bearing down on you, while wearing a long t-shirt and pants (both dark), AND while wearing sandals since you knew that if you wasted more time by tying your shoes then you'd never catch up...
... and then once you do they're just sort of like "oh look who's here lol" and proceed to walk up a gigantic hill without stopping, and then just go "you're fine, whatever" when you ask to take a different route so you don't have to climb up another steep hill at the end of the walk.
In retrospect, it was probably stupid to not put on tennis shoes, since now my ankles hurt like a mother. OW, WALKING

Man, my dad is sixty, now. That's so hard to believe. Jeez, and John's gonna be thirty in a little while. Everyone's getting old
Speaking of family, I love my sister dearly, she's a good person, smart, I think she's super, but every time she talks about gender I just... gaaaah. She seems to think that men should act like men and women should act like women and if you act like anything else then you're weird, gay or both, and considering I have a really boyish personality and little to no interest in stereotypical "girly" things, that can get... a little offensive. Tonight she was describing some guy on TV who was transgender, and she said "transgender" with air quotes and went on about the guy in this condescending tone of voice and finished with "Uh. Yeah." like she just finished describing some convoluted b-movie plot about giant lizards from Mars or something. I can't even go clothes shopping with her because she has to put so much emphasis on how THIS ONE IS REALLY FEMININE, WHICH IS GOOD, AND I KNOW YOU DON'T LIKE TO THINK IT IS, BUT YOU ARE A GIRL, and auhdfgkhjad no, I honestly do not feel comfortable wearing really girly things, it's not who I am, I'm going to buy this baggy t-shirt and cargo pants now

Beat RE4, as well as Separate Ways and Assignment Ada. Might play through it again since it's short and unlocked things intrigue me. The Mercenaries is pretty fun, but man do I ever hate that Dr. Salvador-type guy. It'd be fine if it was just a normal Dr. Salvador or if there was only one per level, but instead there's a bunch and they're on freakin' speed and have to flail their chainsaws all over the place and I tell ya man, they're total godmoders
Also fffffffffff Regenerators. It's not really fighting them that scares me, it's just... everything else. Their battle music, their breathing, the way they move, the way their waist/legs stumble for a moment after you blow up their torso, their locations (seriously, was it just me or did all the Regenerator spots have the creepiest atmospheres in the whole game adfgj).

I've been working on going through all my old entries and f-locking/privating the embarrassing ones, and also going through old screencap adventures and tweaking the commentary slightly. I MUST HIDE EVERYTHING FROM MY PAST. Of course, I'll probably look at these entries in a few years and be like GOD I WAS SO STUPID, soooo

owww my ribs. I should really get them checked, they've been bothering me for months.

MYSTERY MEME WHICH I NOW HAVE TO DO, BECAUSE MY CURIOSITY WAS TOO MUCH TO BEAR (WHAT WHAT ARE YOU PEOPLE SAYING ABOUT ME WHAT)

1. There are 30 questions.
2. Next to each number, write only the name of the person who fits.
3. Answer one question with one name.

4. Don't tell the questions to anyone who isn't doing the meme.

Were you mentioned?! )

So the other night I went to bed and a brown recluse spider came out from behind my pillow and started crawling on my arm.
... t-to tell you the truth, I was more angry than I was scared. I mean, this was the night I came home from visiting my grandpa, and I only got three hours of sleep and had stayed up way later than I should have, and all I wanted to do was crawl into bed and some stupid poisonous spider has to try and ruin everything. Like, what is it trying to prove?! I couldn't even kill it, either, because it startled the crap out of me and ran off before I could grab something. It's like one of those screamers people send around where you think you're trying to find Waldo, and then this scary face pops up and screams, and then you manage to turn off the sound only after it stops screaming because you were too busy being in a fetal position and sobbing. It's like, what the crap.
Of course, then I just told myself that brown recluse spider bites are usually not fatal and just climbed into bed anyway. SLEEP OUTWEIGHS MY FEAR OF DEATH

So I've been trying to draw more lately, since I've kind of fallen into the trap of being like MY ART SUCKS ;_; and then never picking up a pencil. A method that really works well for me is to have one window open with Pose Maniacs and then another open with Maxwell Adams, and then I just copy poses on the Random Pose Viewer on some notebook paper and have the videos going as entertainment. IT MAKES THE TIME FLY I'LL TELL YOU WHAT and it seems like I do better that way rather than playing music or having it silent. Maybe it just puts me in a better mood.

SO ANYWAY

ART POST! )

why is my computer being so slooooowwwwww
backupdump002: (ashley stare)
I sure have been making a lot of icons lately. that was not a blatant advertisement at all

My grandpa took us all to the horse races as an early birthday treat :D I have the sweetest grandpa in the world. We ate dinner there and placed bets (won $14, woooooo), and then... I think sometime around the 6th race it started storming, and some lightning hit the building and the power went out and the races were canceled. WOO
I didn't mind it, though! I actually really like it whenever the power goes out. It's like it always seems to take down this big social barrier and ~*unite*~ people, in a way. has anyone else noticed this or am i just romanticizing things way too much
Speaking of birthdays, the thought of turning seventeen feels so weird. I know it's not really old or anything, but it's... well, it'll be the oldest I've ever been. I guess I just feel like I'm starting to become an adult and I don't have a whole lot to show for it (one of these days I will drive a car you guys, I swear). But maybe I'm pressuring myself too much...

WELL ENOUGH OF THAT, LET'S PLAY SOME MORE SANITARIUM!

Haha, oh yeah, I did that gamer personality quiz that [livejournal.com profile] zarla linked and got The Class Clown (Reckless Sociable Fun Veteran (RSFV)). Why does this not surprise me
backupdump002: (RAGE)
I'M HOOOOOOOOME
Man, we thought we were going to be home, like, two weeks ago, but the closing date on John's house kept getting pushed back so Mom and I kept staying since we wanted to help him move. Hopefully nobody thought we were dead or anything.

Haha, my computer setup feels so small compared to John's gargantuan one. And whoa, someone used that ZEX picture I did over at [livejournal.com profile] fandomsecrets. THAT WAS KIND OF STARTLING yet at the same time it makes me all happy that someone used it. Oh, the emotions of my life. I've been in a smoldering hot car for three days sorry if I'm a little weird

Anyway, it was great. I tried a lot of new things and had many laughs and so on. I already miss visiting with John, but all the same, it's really great to be back :B I started getting pretty homesick towards the end and actually daydreamed about going home and organizing files on my computer and writing essays. GOD I'M THE LAMEST PERSON EVER

But yeah. PICS SOON? I have a picpost partially typed up, but God knows when I'll finish it because it's huge. I've felt so tired after getting home that I haven't really felt like working on it much, though once I have a few days to relax then man you will get so many pictures and so many walls of text i tell you what

Just while I'm wasting time, I keep seeing this everywhere and I finally caved in. I'M NOT THAT INTO SHIPPING SO DON'T EXPECT VERY SERIOUS RESPONSES and I guess just look at my LJ interests if you don't know what I'm into.
Name a fandom, and I'll tell you my:

I got Trace Memory and The World Ends With You while on my trip, and I haven't played either of them yet. I must fix this immediately.
backupdump002: (DURR)
lol i'm in seattle

I don't wanna say too much right now since I wanna wait until I'm home and can really take the time to type something up (and plus this laptop keyboard is annoying and my RIDICULOUSLY LONG NAILS keep getting caught in the keys), but I just wanna say that I didn't die on the way over and things have been pretty great so far and so forth 8D It's a good thing we didn't plan to meet up at Disneyland or anything, [livejournal.com profile] zarla and [livejournal.com profile] gogoicarus, since it turns out that we didn't even go to California at all due to the whole place being up in flames right now. It probably would've been fine, but we just didn't want to risk driving through all the smoke. So... yeah! So instead of driving through California, we went to Texas, drove home and stayed for a few days, then drove to Denver and flew to Seattle. KIND OF A WEIRD PLAN, BUT IT WORKS

It's lookin' like Mom and I are going to stay for a few extra days, though, so we can help John move into his new house. I'm not sure on the exact amount--just however long it takes to finish--but after that then Mom and I are going to drive back home, which will take another 3-4 days. So I'm guessing it's going to be at least another week? YOU GUYS GET AN EVEN LONGER BREAK FROM MY OBNOXIOUS SPAM, IN OTHER WORDS. I just hope the van holds out long enough for us to drive home since that thing is falling apart werjrwhgeg

Anyway, I ought to go. MORE ADVENTURES AWAIT US YET though I dunno if anything can top meeting the former president of Nintendo for me that was awesome

OH MY GOD YOU GUYS GUESS WHAT I DID

I MET DAVID SEDARIS

HE MADE AN APPEARANCE AT BARNES & NOBLE TO SIGN AUTOGRAPHS AND TALK ABOUT HIS NEW BOOK AND READ EXCERPTS FROM IT AND STUFF WHICH HE DID AND THEN WE HAD TO WAIT LIKE SEVEN HOURS AND THEN IT WAS OUR TURN AND HE DREW A PICTURE OF ABRAHAM LINCOLN IN OUR BOOK AND TALKED TO US A BIT AND THE WHOLE TIME I WAS TOO SHY AND NERVOUS TO SAY ANYTHING BUT AS WE WERE STARTING TO SHUFFLE OUT HE LOOKED AT ME AND ASKED HOW OLD I WAS AND I SAID SIXTEEN AND THEN HE SAID THAT WHENEVER TEENAGERS CAME TO VISIT HIM AT BOOK-SIGNINGS AND STUFF HE LIKES TO GIVE THEM GIFTS THOUGH I FORGOT WHY AND THEN HE TOLD ME A STORY ABOUT CONDOMS AND CHERRIES AND OLIVE OIL THAT HAD EVERYONE IN THE ROOM CRACKING UP AND I JUST TRIED LIKE THREE TIMES TO RETELL IT HERE BUT IT KEEPS COMING OUT ALL FAILY I THINK I'M TOO CAPSLOCK RIGHT NOW SOMEONE ASK ME LATER

BUT ANYWAY HE GAVE ME TWO PAINTED POPSICLE STICKS AND SAID THAT WAS ALL HE HAD LEFT AND APOLOGIZED BUT I'M JUST THRILLED THAT HE GAVE ME ANYTHING AT ALL :D THEY'RE SITTING IN FRONT OF ME RIGHT NOW AND I HAVEN'T DECIDED WHERE TO PUT THEM YET BUT AKFGJHDFGHADFGLADFGJ

ALSO HIS BODYGUARD LOOKED LIKE A MANLY VERSION OF BRUSHEL WHICH MADE THINGS EVEN BETTER

AND GUESS WHAT ELSE

BEFORE WE LEFT FOR BARNES & NOBLE I TALKED TO MY BROTHER ON THE PHONE AND HE GOT THE GAME DESIGN JOB AND IS GOING TO WORK ON THE NEW BANJO KAZOOIE GAME
YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW HAPPY I AM FOR HIM OH MY GOD

TODAY IS AWESOME

AND BEFORE I FORGET, TOMBSTONE MEME. I DON'T USUALLY DO THESE BUT THIS ONE LOOKED LIKE IT COULD BE FUNNY

WOW I'M HUNGRY I HAVEN'T HAD DINNER YET
backupdump002: (otacon thinkin')
I made mochi the other day! It wasn't very complicated at all (A GRAND PLUS FOR COOKING IMPAIRED PEOPLE SUCH AS MYSELF), though it did take a long time for it to bake and cool and everything. It came out pretty nicely for my first batch, I think :D The only thing is is that the recipe made a much larger quantity of mochi than I thought it would, and it said to divide the batter into three 8 inch cake pans, but we only had one, so I was like EH I'M SURE IT'LL BE FINE and just dumped the whole thing into one pan, and it wound up not cooking all the way the first time so I had to scoop out the outsides onto a plate and bake it again, so the whole thing took like four hours. BUT OTHER THAN THAT
Mom and I also got some ice cream mochi at this neat Asian market we found, and it is the most delicious thing on Earth oh God I could eat it forever

So visiting with John was a lot of fun, even if it was short. We mostly sat around and played games and watched movies and such. Everyone played Brawl, and it was really funny watching my non-gaming family act so disturbed by everything that was happening (WHAT WHO IS THAT GUY WHAT THE HELL IS THAT WHY AM I GLOWING GOD WHAT IS GOING ON) :B I recorded quite a few hilarious fights, as well, including this one where Mom and Dad fought each other (as Link and Ganondorf, ironically) without having a lot of gaming skills or anything, so they were both just sort of flailing around. IT WAS GREAT. I wish I could show them to you guys, but I don't have a capture card or anything. I'll get one one of these days

We also got the new Mario Kart game for the Wii, which we played a lot (A LOT). It's pretty fun, though I wouldn't recommend getting the steering wheel controller, since it doesn't seem to handle very well (it was real sensitive and made it hard to keep the vehicles steady, and I kept running off of cliffs every five seconds when I used it, and I dunno). A GameCube controller or a Wiimote+nunchuck combo is where it's at.

We also played Wii Play, which was great fun. I played against John and I swear to God he was trying to make me laugh on purpose so I'd mess up adghadkfgja. THERE WERE TIMES WHERE I COULDN'T EVEN SEE THE SCREEN THROUGH MY TEARS OF LAUGHTER

Heh, it's weird, but it seems like every time we're driving John to the airport, he and I always wind up having this long discussion about video games. things nobody cares about )

AND SPEAKING OF THINGS AND STUFF, I AM 99% SURE THAT I AM GOING TO ANIME EXPO :D IF YOU'RE GOING THEN JUST LOOK FOR SOME FREAK IN AN OTACON COSTUME I GUESS. WATCH ME STAMMER AND SQUIRM AS I WRESTLE WITH THE CONCEPT OF SOCIAL INTERACTION

this entry has no point lol. SCREENSHOTS IN THE NEXT ENTRY... PERHAPS

SO HEY I just got back from St. Louis. Well, not really "just," I guess, since that was, like... yesterday afternoon. But yeah! BLAH BLAH BLAH )

Anyway, that's enough of that. To make this post a bit more worthwhile, how aboutAWWWWWWWWW
Sorry, distracted. HOW ABOUT SOME DRAWINGS? Ever since I made Eccentricity there hasn't been much of a point to posting them here, since I put everything I draw up there. Lately, though, I've been thinking that I kind of miss doing art posts in this journal, especially since not everyone looks at Eccentricity. So what I've decided is that I'm going to start posting things here FIRST, and THEN move them to Eccentricity, so that way, Eccentricity will be more of an archive-y site, which is what it was intended to be in the first place. :D Took me long enough to figure that out

You should look at the website for stuff I did before these, by the way.
Aaaaaarrrrrtttt )

Aaaaand yup. Feel free to critique any of these, by the way!

On a side note, Apollo Justice got here sometime while we were gone! And I even got the keychain! :D And for some reason, I have yet to take the game out of the plastic wrap. I must fix this immediately.

Ugh, I've felt really out of it these past couple of weeks. I've just been oddly introspective and depressed and can't seem to focus on anything else and auuuuggggh. I think it's going away, though, finally.

The roads on our street are getting rebuilt. I don't really know why since the roads seemed perfectly fine to me, but I think it has something to do with stability or something..? Because they're seriously just tearing everything out, including the curbs and driveway ends and stuff. I dunno. I guess if it had to be done then it's a good thing that they're doing it, but it's kind of annoying since now we can't really leave the house. Not to mention that the construction workers come in at like 5 AM and like to make as much noise as possible, with the random screaming arguments and singing and setting the neighbor's yard on fire. No, really.

Soooo, looks like Spore is coming out September 7th. I freaked out over this game when I first heard about it, but thinking about it now, it... well, it actually looks kind of boring. Whoops, this came out kind of long. )

On that note, Apollo Justice comes out... today, I guess! :B Since it's currently 2 AM and everything. I wont get to play it immediately since we just ordered last night and chose the cheapest shipping (5-10 business days), but still. Can't wait!

Videos I've been meanin' to post:
I have so much respect for these guys, seriously. They can have someone break a board over their head and not even flinch, and meanwhile I can barely make myself hold still long enough to take eyedrops. I AM SUCH A FAILURE but yeah, hardcore. :D
WE'RE JUMPING ONTO WHITE BASE! AAAAAAAAAAAAA
Am I lame for laughing at this
The most awesome one yet.
This guy has a lot of REALLY fascinating Super Smash Bros. Melee videos that pretty much just delve into every little tiny detail of the game and point out what it references. It's so amazing to see how much care Nintendo puts into making Smash Bros. games, it really is. I still haven't made it through all the videos.
JESUS CHRIST. I really wanna play this game now. Also, that music is totally awesome. ALSO, THIS.
Y'know, despite how ridiculously unfair and difficult this game is, it's actually very interesting, I think! Just all the references and how each level represents a certain game, and... I dunno. SHUT UP
This cracks me up no matter how many times I watch it. Sulfur hexafluoride is pretty cool, though.
I need to try this.

AND JUST WHILE I'M POSTING RANDOM CRAP, HAVE SOME MEME I GANKED OFF OF [livejournal.com profile] waywardoctagon!
Once you've been tagged, the rules are you have to write a blog with 10 interesting facts/things/habits about yourself.

Finish by choosing 10 people to be tagged and list their names

Let's see if I can come up with anything. )

Aaaaand a couple more I yoinked from [livejournal.com profile] missmorrichan:
Leave me an anonymous comment pouring your heart out. Say anything. Tell me your stories, your secrets, those things no one ever asks but you wish to tell. Tell me about your love, your hate, your indifference, your joy. Tell me about what's inside of you when you're reading through these entries on your friends list, and tell me why you continue to come back here. Tell me anything. Tell me what you really think of me or yourself. Anything.

Post anonymously. Speak honestly. Post as many times as you like.

"How many times has someone on your friends list posted about something and you were really confused, but you didn't want to ask because you knew you SHOULD know? How many times have you felt 'guilty' asking a close LJ friend a question that should be 'obvious'?

"Well, here's your chance. If you've missed a few things, missed an entry and are confused, ask me anything. Even something EXTREMELY basic, like where I live! I'm not going to get irritated at any of the questions - we've all missed things before, so ask away!"

OKAY I THINK THAT'S ENOUGH MINDLESS RAMBLING FOR ONE POST GOD WHY DID IT TAKE LIKE TWO HOURS TO WRITE THIS

It seems fun, I dunno |D

Forgot to mention this, but we didn't go to the Clinton speech thing after all since none of us felt like making the trip. we are so ambitious

Man, I think the power supply on this computer is failing, which worries me a bit. I should really get around to buying a new one.

I've been helping Mom clean up the old house, lately. Let it be known that I hate whoever moved there last. It took me two or three hours to clean the bathroom (and it is not a large bathroom, mind you) -- the tub was dirty, the floors filthy (literally PILES of dirt and dust covering the whole floor; I don't even know how many paper towels it took to clean it), and o...old toenail clippings behind the toilet. The carpet is so dirty that our vacuum cleaner couldn't even handle it and kept spitting out globs of dirt everywhere despite the bag not being full. You can't even sit down without having to brush all sorts of stuff off your pants when you get up.

The yard is the worst of it, though -- pretty much all the grass is dead. There's sticks all over the place because of that stupid ice storm, which we've been having to go around and pick up. I started raking up leaves at some point, and I... it... the leaves are literally just caked in, because they never raked them up and they got rained on and eventually merged into one solid mass. I seriously wasn't even raking, so much as peeling away one big thick layer of leaves to reveal dirt and a few clumps of dead grass underneath.

The saddest part is that these aren't the worst tenants we've had. adfughadfglafga. I am very ready to sell the place at this point, though apparently we have some other guy who's already wanting to rent it. GO AWAY ARGH >( I AM TIRED OF CLEANING UP AFTER YOU PEOPLE

On a side note, going to our old house now makes me feel very... tall. I used to think it was huge when I was little, but now I can easily touch most of the ceilings with my hand if I jump a bit. And I'm, what... 5'4", 5'5"? Then again, that house is, like, 40 years old, and older houses tend to have shorter ceilings in my experience. Still kind of an odd feeling, though.

SO ANYWAY, THAT'S ENOUGH WHINING OUT OF ME. HOW ABOUT SOME MORE MARIO IS MISSING!?

When we last left off we discovered the evils of Bowser's lame hairdryer scheme, learned stuff, and burned Larry. That's about all you need to know, really.

This episode is reeeeeeally short -- around 180 screenshots or so. I could actually fit two rounds in here, but, well, I don't feel like it. TAKE THAT! I might do that next time, though, just to speed things up a bit.
